Historical Landscapes in Concord
January 17, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The Zoom meeting on Jan 17 will be a talk by Jayne Gordon about five historical landscapes in Concord that are her favorites to investigate and why and invite members to share their own.
Jayne Gordon lived in Concord for 46 years before retiring to Damariscotta, Maine. She has worked with every historical organization in town as either administrator, educator, consultant or board member. For two decades, she taught the Concord History course for C-C Adult Ed. Since 2010, she has led ten weeklong National Endowment for the Humanities workshops for teachers from across the country on both the Revolution in Concord and Henry Thoreau in Concord, and she is currently working with the Concord Museum to apply for new workshop funding for 2022.
Jayne has recently been facilitating Zoom conversations with international scholars and teachers from all over this nation in her role as a Thoreau Society board member. Her focus – both in Concord, and now teaching courses in mid-coast Maine – has consistently been the intersection of landscape, literature, and local history.
