SUMMARY:What Are You Doing For the Rest of Your Life?
DESCRIPTION:Concord After 60 Member\, Ann Rarich will lead a conversation about volunteering: \n“We make a living by what we get\, but we make a LIFE by what we GIVE”- Winston Churchill \nStudies show that volunteering improves one’s physical\, mental and social wellbeing which enhances our quality of life. \nEven when controlling for other factors such as age\, health\, and gender\, research has found that when individuals volunteer\, they are more likely to live longer. \nJoin us at our May session where we will  have an interactive session that will include: \n·         Reviewing the benefits of volunteering \n·         Self-Assessing our interests and preferences \n·         Sharing what our experiences have been in volunteering  and what our priorities are moving forward \n·         Exploring and exchanging  resources that match our preferences for volunteering

SUMMARY:Honey Bees
DESCRIPTION:Mark Hanson will present a program on Honey Bees and pollinators. He has been keeping bees for fifty years will be our April speaker. His concern for the environment\, love of gardening and beekeeping have made him an activist for pollinator protection.  Mark will talk about his experiences keeping bees\, his understanding of their hive mentality\, where all serve “the greater good”\, and what is happening around the world to protect our bees and other native pollinators. \nMark has been tracking hive health in Concord and finds that local hives are struggling.  Find out what we all can do to help our bees and butterflies. \nOur lives – and the world as a whole – would be a much different place if bees didn’t exist. Honeybees and other pollinators and the invaluable pollinating services they provide us  helped produce approximately $19 billion worth of agricultural crops in the U.S. alone in 2010. \nCome and enjoy.
